Winterbotham Darby is an award-winning supplier of foods to the retail and foodservice markets, The company boasts supply-sites right across Europe, drawing upon the expertise of some the finest regional food producers.

Winterbotham Darby came on board in 2012, as it needed a supplier that could offer a flexible network of partnerships that would help expand its scope and reach its retail destinations. Fowler Welch’s Paddock Wood facility was ideally situated to consolidate, pick and despatch in excess of five million cases per year to the customer’s national customer base. The solution also offered the flexibility to respond to additional growth over the contract term.

Responding

Over 650 pallets are moved weekly, including all of Winterbotham Darby’s deli lines such as olives, sliced meats, and paté from Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium and France. Typically, orders received by 7.00am on day-one are delivered by 2.00am on day-two.

As part of the initial partnership, Fowler Welch’s Paddock Wood location was effective as it offered prime access to the Euro Tunnel and Dover Docks, delivering Winterbotham Darby’s European hauliers with the closest delivery location to the UK. With backloads to Europe from the UK a rarity, this saves time and money for importers and hauliers from the continent.

Over the years we have developed a relationship with Winterbotham Darby which has resulted in us covering a much broader range of services for them. We manage Winterbotham Darby products in a number of locations, including deli solutions in our Nuneaton hub and JS volume through Hilsea from Europe.
