Cross-docking for Tesco
Fowler Welch is proud to deliver to Tesco stores in specific regions. Where the distance from their RDCs is long – such as the South West and North East – Fowler Welch has developed cross-dock platforms allowing efficient double deck trunks to the regions before being cross-docked at Fowler Welch sites in Newton Abbot and Washington, Tyne and Wear for radial distribution to stores on smaller trailers and rigids.
With 110 stores served daily the focus on service is high, yet we have reduced food miles and cost as a result of these semi-dedicated operations.
