Date joined Fowler Welch:
July 1, 2012
Jim is General Manager for the Spalding site, which also house our Head Office functions. Jim currently has 9 direct reports who in turn manage the typically 500 strong operational teams in both transport and warehouse arenas.
He started his logistics career literally by accident after suffering an injury that curtailed his previous employment, but soon recognised the industry as the focussed, dynamic environment he wished to develop in.
Starting locally as a Transport Administrator at Gist (then BOCDS) he continued to progress, ultimately leaving the business after 9 years as Operations Manager to join a different sector. Joining Celsius First ( previously Frigoscandia ) as Planning Manager Jim progressed to take on the Warehouse, Transport and Site responsibilities before spending 3 years on the interim circuit for a number of Companies such as Keystone Distribution and Samworth Brothers Distribution.
The exciting opportunity to lead the build and launch of a new chilled site took Jim to Culina Logistics, where he successfully ran the Haverhill operation as General Manager before joining Samworth Brothers Distribution initially as a General Manager and latterly as Operations Director.
Jim joined Fowler Welch in 2012, initially to support the Commercial team but supported the Spalding Warehouse operation, and the Washington operation as GM before focussing solely as General Manager for the Spalding site.
Recently married Jim is an active DIY-er as well as having a number of more unusual hobbies. A part qualified helicopter pilot, Jim is also a qualified mariner and owns a 32 foot boat, and has shot at County level in his younger days.
