Through extensive experience within blue chip FMCG businesses and iconic category leading brands alongside a proven track record of delivery within financial, logistics and leadership roles, Peter is well placed to lead our finance function.

Following graduation from Brighton University with a 2:1 degree in Accountancy  and Finance, Peter successfully qualified as a chartered accountant whilst working at retailer B&Q. During 7 years at B&Q Peter developed a real passion for FMCG retailing. Initially responsible for retail financial support he quickly grew into highly commercial roles. This involved driving sales and margin through; stock loss root cause analysis and reduction; procurement and pricing; and financial support to the £0.75bn turnover decorative category. He developed commercial strategies for promotions in conjunction with buyers and suppliers,undertook range planning and the development and implementation of own brand ranges. In addition Peter also gained significant technical financial experience in his time as the company’s Financial Accountant.

Looking to build on his FMCG experience, Peter moved to become Commercial Planning Manager at PepsiCo. During the creation of the company’s integrated national account management team he provided key commercial/financial support to iconic brands Walkers, Tropicana and Quaker. In this role Peter was able to the develop his sales, marketing and planning skills through extensive modelling on pricing and margin management. Working within Quaker’s new product development team, Peter’s interest in supply chain was initiated.

Building on his interest in supply chain logistics, Peter moved to another iconic British brand – Hovis. As Logistics Finance Manager, Peter’s supply chain skills were quickly honed within the short life, highly complex and low margin environment of bread manufacturing.  Peter delivered sophisticated cost to serve and networking models providing key business and costing information.

Peter took on his first directorship with Copart UK Ltd., the world’s largest Motor Salvage Auction Company. Initially appointed as UK Finance Director his role was rapidly expanded to cover the buyer / consumer offering as the business grew in scale.

Initially focusing on establishing the legal and tax structure for the group and establishment of efficient finance team, the role was key to successfully delivering profitable growth via a series of M&A transactions, contract wins and network restructuring initiatives to deliver annual sales in excess of £350m pa. Latterly Peter became European Finance Director and led the establishment of a European group via M&A and green field start ups to facilitate operations in Germany, Spain and Ireland.
During Peter’s time at Copart he gained valuable business experiences. He lead and successfully delivered the commercial contract tender process for a transformational new business win. Peter also gained legal and IT experience whilst managing the European legal team and as European leader to key IT projects delivering a new e-commerce platform and implementation of SAP ERP solutions.

Keen to take Peter’s leadership skills and apply them within the FMCG  market, joining Fowler Welch with its stellar customer base was a natural next step. An enthusiastic and passionate member of the team, his goal is to enhance service and value.
