Date joined Fowler Welch:
February 2, 2017
Sean Negus, the Head of Operations for Ambient, was born and raised in Gillingham in Kent where he attended the Howard Grammar School and represented the county at both hockey and basketball.
Following the completion of his ‘A’ levels, Sean started his working career as a trainee accountant at Mercantile Credit, part of the Barclays Group, before moving into retail to continue his accountancy studies with Safeway. Not long after joining Safeway he chose a change in career direction and moved into logistics and has never looked back.
During his thirteen years at Safeway Sean progressed from frontline depot operational roles within transport through various central supply-focused roles to a senior role heading up the Primary Logistics function for the group. It was during this part of his career that he played a pivotal role in designing the ‘Primary’ function that is now commonplace across the retail and wholesale markets in the UK.
Following a successful career in retail Sean then decided to move into the Foodservice sector with Brakes, which also gave him and his family the opportunity to return to their Kentish routes, having spent over ten years living in Hampshire. During his time at Brakes Sean was responsible for the complete re-design of the supply planning and primary logistics function across UK, French, Irish and Scandinavian businesses owned by the Group. Key elements of the re-design included the introduction of SAP demand planning tools, the development of VMI and S&OP processes and award-winning primary supply functions.
Having worked for Brakes for seventeen years, Sean then decided to set up his own consultancy business in 2014 and spent a very successful two years working with businesses such as 2 Sisters, Martin Brower, Bidvest, GS1 UK and Fowler Welch.
