Fowler Welch Driver of the Year
On Wednesday 17th April we held our annual Driver of the year event, at Donnington Park.
Drivers who have worked the requisite number of shifts, had no infringements and no at fault collisions are eligible to qualify for the annual Driver of the year event. To determine the finalists, 5 safety and efficiency metrics are used. The Drivers are ranked from high to low in each category and allocated points accordingly. Based on these criteria, our overall best performing Driver of the year for 2023 was Ed Burgham (Washington), a truly consistent and commendable achievement!
Ed, as part of the team of Depot winners, 3 best runners up and best Apprentice were invited to the event. On the day, the attendees were split into four teams of three to compete in various driving related activities for group and personal winners. This year’s events were 4×4 Off Road; Hovercraft; Concentration Driving; Formula Finesse and a Manoeuvring Challenge, all designed to test our Drivers’ ability to adapt to their surroundings, demonstrate a dynamic thought process and perform under pressure. Our winner of the day was Jack Richardson-Gould (Newton Abbot – Apprentice), who started in the lowest position and received only three penalty points – another truly commendable achievement.
